Chefchaouen
In Chefchaouen the walls get a fresh coat of blue every spring, and women still do their laundry in the cold water at Ras el Maa. You lose the map within ten minutes and stop caring. A slim cat-eye in handmade acetate with polarized lenses, only 25 grams, so it stays put on the steep stairs.

Matera
Matera was carved straight into the rock, and people lived in those caves until the 1950s. Now the stone glows gold at sunset. A rimless frame with eight-sided lenses cut at the edges so they catch the light, held by a slim metal bridge. Nothing around the lens, so the shape does all the talking.
The Matera frame
